About Us

What is the British Independent Artists Association? The British Independent Artists Association is a not-for-profit collective of independent artists with a wide range of interests, including the arts and culture sector. These include an exhibition of creative writing, sound-making and visual art across different media, education and the development of public space and projects that encourage the public to engage and enjoy London. The association represents over 300 art works from artists and writers across the UK, and is dedicated to advancing and extending the public sphere of art and culture in the UK. Founded in 1841, the BIA was established in the first years of the industrial revolution in Britain. Members include artists, writers and musicians, and their works are in the collection of the National Gallery of Wales. The BIA is a not-for-profit organisation made up of members from all over the UK.

The British Independent Artists Association is also campaigning for a move to legalise cannabis, and has submitted a consultation document with 15 organisations, which states:

They [the artists] support the recognition that cannabis, which could be legalised, has unique medicinal value. However, it does not provide enough knowledge for users or users of cannabis. It has been used for over a century by tens of millions of smokers, and millions of cannabis smokers are currently dependent on cannabis for health reasons. A cannabis regime should be regulated according to the best scientific evidence.

The British Independent Artists Association is offering $10,000 for information leading to the capture or death of those who harm their work.An individual is required to be arrested, charged, fined or jailed within the state for any "public display of contempt" by their work or their work's words."If the individual commits any work offence, then all the charges against the individual are dismissed, but the arrest will be for contempt and the charge laid," a spokesman said."The police will make a determination on whether to pursue charges, based on whether the individual did commit any offence. A police spokesman declined to provide details of the charge."If the individual is found guilty, it can range from a fine of between $10,000 and $300,000 to a death se
